Publish .NET WebService (VS 2.0)

Hi all

I have some problems with creating a WebService ... :-(
Here is what I did:
- I have created a new WebSite Project (ASP.NET Web Service)
- I did not modify any code in this new project.
- The asmx File is now located on my local development drive.
- On my IIS 6 (Win 2003 Server) I have created a new Virtual Directory.
- The new Virtual Directory works fine.

Now I tried to publish my .NET Project to this WebSite ...
It is publishing fine, but does not copy anything ...
When I copy the asmx file manualy and run it, the following error comes up:
"The global attribute 'http://www.w3.org/XML/1998/namespace:lang' has
already been declared"
When I now publish my Project, the asmx file is deleted ...

What do I have to do ???
Thanks for any comment!

Best regards

Hi Frank,

I suppose, it is a matter of your Web Host provider.
My Web Host provider is discount ASP.net (www.discountasp.com).
It is very simply to publish web services on this provider, just use the
function Copy Project of Project Menu.
I have also tried to copy manually sometimes some files on my Web Site.
It did not work, because before updating of a Web Service I have to remove
the old version and then to install the new version.
Ask your provider how you must to proceed.

Anyway the Copy Project function has some settings / options to copy all or
only necessary files to run the Web Service.

You wrote: I did not modify any code in this new project.
But you have to change the instruction WebService(Namespace="…"
I suppose you have done already this change, otherwise you can call the Web
Service from Web.

Maybe you have to look for string http://www.w3.org/XML/1998/namespace:lang
in your project files, remove it or outcomment and try again.
Have a fun!
Valentin
