can't uninstall or re-install .net 2002

I tried to uninstall and it aborted.

Tried to re-install and it states there was a previous installation failure.

Then it tries to uninstall and gets an error again:

[04/20/06,10:43:46] setup.exe: [2] Value (directory) from
g_szRegvalSuiteLocation doesn't exist in CSetupManager::RemoveSetupFiles()
[04/20/06,10:43:46] setup.exe: [2] CSetupManager::RemoveSetupFiles() failed
in CSetupManager::RunInstall()

How do I get past this?

I'm running Windows XP SP2 with current updates.
