windows user control in the web

Hi Everyone,

I have 2 problems I am currently investigating. I am hopeful that
someone out there can help me out.

1. I have a windows user control in the web browser. This control has a
dropdown list. This control is also displayed within a Microsoft TabStrip
control. When I click to the tab hosting the control, I then try to pick the
dropdownlist. The first time going to the tab and picking the drop down
list, the drop down list drops down and then up automatically. The second
time picking it, it then drops down allowing me to change the selection. I
had tried to see what events I could catch, the OnPaint seem to be the only
one, but this caused other problems because the control seems to paint
itself for virtually every mouse move in the browser, especially when just
scrolling over the tabs in the tabstrip or the aspnetmenu items on the
page...this leads to question two

2. when the painting is happening for the user control, the listboxes on the
usercontrol flickers like mad. This flickering even happens with asp
listboxes on the page.

Does anyone know of a way I can prevent the flickering and the annoyance of
the drop down lists behaviour?

TIA.
Rick.
