continuously migrating XML data suits

P: n/a

I'm just working on regression testing for a Java client/
server application. In addition to the daily build a daily
smoke test should be added. The communication between client
and server could be well recorded as a sequence of messages
with parameter objects in XML. The replay for the server
could be done at that interface.

Where I don't have a good idea is about the effort for
migrating the test data suite. I assume that about every third
day changes will be introduced having impact on the interface
format. Means that the parameter objects will have name changes
or structural changes. Is the size of the test suite getting
very large, most of time might be spend to migrate that data.

How should I approach this problem? Can you give me an idea
how to do this work efficiently? Are there tools available
for this kind of work? The daily work should be done by non-
programmers as well.

Thanks in advance for your feedback
