.net brand has been dropped?

I was at the VS.NET product launch and they discussed
this in depth. NO, they aren't dropping .NET. THey are
just changing the branding. .NET Server for instance
sounded Lame and the focus groups hated it. Wait until
the Hears Windows 2003 Server which is what you have to
call it now.

Who knows what they'll finally call it (Lord knows that
Dillweed at Sun hopped all over Hailstorm) but it's a
Rose by any other name thing. Remember DNA and COM+.
Does anyone even mention DNA anymore unless it's our Ex-
President's?

Suffice to say however, MS is banking everything on
the .NET initiative (and I was at the shareholders
meeting too and it was clear as day) so whatever the
marketing loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooossers
say, .NET is here to stay. Remember, these are the same
clowns who think it's cool to say ("Let's take it
offline" when they are on a conference call or "I'll take
that action item" when you ask them forward a request in
writing, or "What's the Delta on that?" when they are
talking about ordinal data.)

-----Original Message-----
In this weeks InfoWorld, Tom Yager said that "Microsoft has Nuked the .netbrand." He went on to say "Without .Net, what can Microsoft use to presentits software as a unified, integrated offering"?

Is this true? What does that mean? Does "dropping the brand" mean dropping..net?
Thanks,
Gary
