How to check if file is opened by other process

Hi there, this might be a easy one for you -- I want to check if the file is
opened by other process before I start to write something in it.

This question is so traditional that make me feel a bit embarrassing to ask.
But I just donot know how to do this in dotnet 1.1 /2

Don't tell me to use try ..catch.

Appreciate very much for the help.
