Web Access Failed when trying to create an asp.net web service remotely

hi,

i'm trying to create an asp.net web service remotely as detailed at :

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...cesforSPPT.asp

i'm getting an "access is denied" error when i try and create the web
service on the sharepoint server.

i'm assuming that this is a permissions issue - can someone help me
understand what account needs which permissions on which machine ?

visual studio is not installed on the sharepoint server but is
installed locally on my machine.

thanks in advance
