Microsoft .NET 1.1 Framework installation problem

While installing the .NET 1.1 framework I have been getting problem
like this.

"Microsoft .NET Framework Setup failed. If this problem continues,
contact Product Support Services."

I could never fix this. No info in Microsoft Support and there is info
in Google but not working. I had to develop my app in 1.0 framework.
Past 6 months I could not figure this out. Any help would be
appreciated. Tried all possible solutions on Google.

Are you routinely applying critical updates from Microsoft? How much disk
space do you have available?

Do you have an entry under Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel? If so,
try uninstalling and then installing again.

Also, if you're running a virus scanner, you might turn it off and try
again.

Have you verified that your computer's specifications match that for
installing .NET 1.1?
