I am using the C# 2005 Express product and am able to write services.
However, there is not a template that will get you started. You have to
write the code out yourself, which isn't as hard as it might sound. But
you need to know what you're doing.

There are a few articles on the internet about how to do this. I can't
remember one off the top of my head.

I would caution you that this approach (using Express) is not without
its downsides. One being that it is much more difficult to troubleshoot
than with the Pro version.
