C# Express

I don't know where to put this, but I hope MS reads this.

THANK YOU

I just retired and was trying to figure out how I could afford to get into Visual Studio .Net to see if I would like learning modern development and maybe try to become useful in the Windows community. This looks a lot better than all the stuff floating around on eBay because this looks tailored for exactly where I am. I am really looking forward to the IDE, the language, and a newsgroup where I am not in over my head or forever branded "newbie."

Even procrastination takes a little time.

Hi CBarnhorst,

I was curious for the meaning of your message and therefore I had a look in
the Csharp language newsgroup, I get the idea that you are using the Web
version to read these newsgroups. However you are not clear about that which
can mean that when Microsoft reads your message get the idea that it is
about the content of these newsgroups.

I think that the most regular people use Outlook Express or other NNTP
newsreaders to visit these newsgroups.

A link to start that direct is
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...t.languages.vb

To search in these newsgroups you can use this one
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=e...t.languages.vb

From that newsgroup (and more as by instance in this one) I know that every
newbie is handled as a newbie should be handled, with patience and some
extra information.

However were you already very active in these dotNet newsgroups? Because for
me it is terrible that there are so many empty newsgroups. It is useless to
look in a special newsgroup when there is one message a week

When you are talking about the web interface, I completely agree with you.
In my opinion that is terrible and even discriminating people from outside
the US

I hope this gives some ideas?

Cor

Hi Chris,

I was answering his question from the C# group here because I was reading
that and I am not a Csharp regular, while his sentence had for me something
General. It did make from my answer a riddle I see now.

Thanks, good that you point me on that.

This is the message in the CSharp newsgroup

\\\
Now that the Express betas are out there, breaking out Express is surely needed. It's probably >already done, but I haven't found it.
The number of postings is too many such that before 2 days is over, I have a hard time finding my earlier postings. Suggestion:
(1) Have different subcategories (not too many) like:-
(i) Programming
(ii) IDE & Plug-Ins
(iii) Report writers
(iv) Databases
(v) Newbies Questions
(vi) Others

(2) The way this forum is formatted where my screen is divided into 3 panes gives me very little space to see the postings. Is there a way to
adjust the height and width of the top and bottom postings and to hide the
pane on the left? Maybe the "MSDN" title /logo can also be omitted to free
up more space on the screen.
