Web Services without IIS ? Is it possible and how, please ?

Hi! I've searched this topic with limited results. I'd like to know if I can
build a
MS WebService in C#(v.1.1) on Windows Server 2003 without using IIS ? Is it
possible? What's involved ? Are there any useful URL's describing how to do
it ?

Thank you in advance,

Mike, I read articles where people talked about the Cassini web server. It's
a really small executable, you could possibly host it in an application or
so.

Beside I just found out that VS 2005 comes with a ASP.Net Development Server
that lets you develop and test ASP.Net apps and web services locally. You
cannot access any of the pages from other computers, neither do you have
access to stuff like SMPT or FTP. However, it might fit your needs.

Check out these article for more info on using the new features of .NET
2.0 to do what you're asking.

WHat you are asking for is what Microsoft is planning next with codename
Indigo. The release name will be Windows Communication Framework.
