Efficiently counting webmethod "hits"

Is there a performance counter or something that I can use to determine the
number of "hits" there have been to webmethod and if it ended in success of
failure (exception/soapfault). Essentially, I'm looking for a way to
generate some "site stats".

What sort of strategies are people using to do this? Does IIS have
something built in that already handles this?

Thanks
