Process a text message?

Has anyone tried to write a web service that receives a text message from a
cell phone and preforms an update to a SQL Server database. I'm looking for
possible solutions. Thanks for the input.

Are you seeking to make the cell phone a soap client I assume?

Maybe? I don't know anything about SOAP. I'm using Nextel phones. Do I
need to write software for the phone?

You need to find out what operating system the Nextel phones use, as well as
what webclient software they use. I doubt web services will be a good choice
in your case though based on what little tidbits I know of the Nextel phones.
