Cannot stop async called method?

Hi,
I've a Web Service running under IIS 5.1 on WinXP Pro.
The WS has some synchronous methods and only one asynchronous method.
When my client application starts ,I can see on the server , by
Performance Monitor , two connection starting.
When I close the client , these connections are closed.

The problem appears when something wrong happened...

Sometimes I can have an exception throw by a synchronous method call on
the server. When it happens , one of the connections is closed , but
the other is stil running and it never stops!
I think that the closed connection is the one "dedicated" to
synchronous calls, and the other is for asynchronous process.

Obiously , after some other client close and restart , and some other
exceptions throws , i can see the connection number rising every time,
until it reach the maximum allowed (ten connections).

My only way to destroy that connections is a IIS Reset....

Is there any way to solve this problem?

Thanks ,
Nicola
