secure redirect

I have a login page in asp.net that accepts a user name and password. This
page needs to send the user name and password to another site after checking
them. The password is "asterisked" on the login page, and I do not want the
user to be able to see it in the query string that is sent to the external
site. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.
