MS Team System and non-MS development

I've not had a chance to sit down and review all that Visual Studio
2005 and Team System have to offer, but I recently did a book review
(prior to publication) for an author who was writing about Team
System's ability to tie programmers and their activities together. I
was especially impressed by the amount and types of data gathered and
the reports it offers. What isn't clear in what I have read online and
in that book is whether it's flexible enough to handle development
outside of the Microsoft sphere.

My question to you is, since we are not a Microsoft shop (we generally
write mostly static and ColdFusion web sites, with a little JSP/Java
thrown in, our platform being Solaris) would we stand to benefit at all
from using Team System? Or is it geared strictly towards people
writing managed .NET framework code and/or unmanaged C++ apps?

Well, I believe that Team System Foundation Server is designed to be an
open platform in terms of clients - SourceGear has recently started
another division for TeamPrise, which is a plug-in for Eclipse:

Thanks Jon. That is helpful, although it looks like I'll be waiting
for a while yet on TeamPrise. Their site seems to indicate that the
product is either just barely out of beta or about to be so. But it
seems to fit the majority of my requirements, including the
Explorer-like interface for nonEclipse users.

Well given that Team System Foundation Server won't be out for a while,
you'll have to wait anyway. I expect TeamPrise will be released fairly
sson after TSFS is.
