Unmanaged resources 101

Hi

I'm looking for some good places to read up about the limitations
placed on so-called operating system resources. For example, if you
don't write a nice Dispose (and Finalize) then the resource is leaked.
So, how scarce are these resources anyway? By what mechanism are they
reclaimed once the Process that used them (and inadvertently held on to
them) has terminated normally? And how about abnormally? Is there any
operating system garbage collection of resources?

All these questions!

Any pointers - I'd very grateful.

Emma

PS If anyone wants to answer my recent question about _Object on the
interop newsgroup I would be really grateful!
