Crystal Reports 8.5 served via VS.NET 2005 CR viewer ?? possible?

Hello - sorry for all the posts, painful learning curve here.

I have a simple CR 8.5 report that I brought into an asp.net site I am
developing through vs.net 2005. When I run the report from vs.net
(using start debugging) it renders the report fine.

When I attempt to run the report via browser I get :

Server Error in '/' Application.
Configuration Error
Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration
file required to service this request. Please review the specific error
details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

ASP.NET Version:1.1.4322.573
The same report developed using CR.NET works via a browser, but first
prompts me for DB user/password - I suspect it might be trying to do
the same with the CR 8.5 report but is not sure how to talk to it. I'd
like to develop other reports in 8.5 and deliver them via asp.net web
sites.

What could this be? Do I need to compile the 8.5 reports in CR.NET?
Is anybody using the .net CR viewer to serve CR 8.5 reports via the
web?
And if so, what is a good way stop CR from asking for pws?

Thanks in advance for any help or information.
