Comparing Calculated Values To perform An Action

I have several math function routines that produce a value when I click the
"Calculate" buton and should compare the values to display a panel.
The values will not compare.

Example:

If PS.Text > M.Text Then
Panel1.Visible=True

I have set the result of the math function as Single.

Help!!!
