My friend has a newly installed Windows 2003 Server Web Edition. The IIS and
..NET Framework will be installed by default. He went to the Microsoft.NET
config folder and changed the username from Machine to SYSTEM in
machine.config file. The server is just for internal testing purpose. He
do 'iisreset' after that and restart the IIS manually from the IIS manager
as well. Well he told me that he had tried both 'Machine' and 'System'.
Then he deployed the ASPX application on it straightaway without hesitation.
He typed http://localhost/ASPXApplication/ in the IE browser and he got the
"The Page Cannot Be Display" error.
He has created two files (normal HTML and simple ASPX) to test it. He
managed to run http://localhost/ASPXApplication/testing.html but he was not
able to run http://localhost/ASPXApplication/testing.aspx. He got the same
"The Page Cannot Be Display" error for testing.aspx. There is no error
message from the event log under application. The only error he can see is
the "The Page Cannot Be Display" error from the page itself in the browser.
It seems like the .NET Framework for ASPX is not working.
Does anyone know what is missing and how to resolve this issue? Please
advice. Thank you.
