private field reflection of parent

I need to reflect on a type's fields I also need to get the fields of any
base classes that the type may have. I was under the impression that calling
GetFields on the type would return the fields of parent types as well, but
this is not occuring.

Here is the code I am using:
FieldInfo[] fields =
entityType.GetFields(BindingFlags.NonPublic|Bindin gFlags.Instance);

This returns the fields of the subType but not all the fields down the
hierarchy. Am I missing something?
