Forms Authentication for tiered site

I have an application where the root folder of the site has the following
web.config details :-
<authentication mode="Forms">
<forms loginUrl="Login.aspx" />
</authentication>
<authorization>
<allow users="*" /> <!-- Allow all users -->
</authorization>
Further into the site at webroot/Courses I have the following web.config
details
<authorization>
<deny users="*" /> <!-- Deny all users -->
</authorization>
when I try to access webroot/Courses/IP221/main.aspx
I am take to the login page which has the following OnClick code:-
public void OnClickLoginIt (Object sender, EventArgs e)
{
DBA CheckLogin = new DBA ();
if (CheckLogin.CustomAuthenticate (EmailIs.Text, PasswordIs.Text, Output))
{
FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage (EmailIs.Text, false);
}
}
the authentication is checked and the
FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage line is executed (as seen in the
debugger)
However the browser just returns straight to the Login.aspx again.
I have checked that it is a trusted site, cookies are enabled. What can I do
to fix this problem??
