dotnet install

My MIS guy just gave me a new PC for my development machine and I'm
trying to install Visual Studio .NET Pro. The installation is taking an
incredibly long time - I cancelled after 2 hrs and it said there was 3
hrs left to go.

This pc is a Dell 1.8 ghZ P4 with a gig of RAM running XP. Last time I
did this installation on my old P3 Win2K machine I don't recall it being
like this. I have no idea why it could be taking so long, and I'm hoping
one of you guys can make a suggestion.

BTW I have .NET version 2002 if that matters.

The last time I installed Visual Studio .Net 2003, including MSDN, on a 2.4 G
PIII, with 512 MB, I think it took about 3 hours. I think the Visual Studio
part took a bit more than an hour.

If the two hours (incomplete) is for VS, with MSDN, then it's in the ball
park, but if it's just for VS then it sounds as if somethings is wrong with
the machine.
