Hi,
I'm running a Windows 2000 server with all the latest security patches and
stuff. I am using an ADODB.Recordset to perform all my requests for
information from a database. I noticed some newsgroups said to use the Jet
engine instead of ODBC, so I am now using the Jet engine. I use rs.open and
rs.close to open and close the databases.
Here's the problem: If I leave my server running for a while, accepting
requests and providing responses, I eventually get a crash on my "rs.open"
line. It says "Unspecified Error"... any ideas? I've checked to make sure
that each recordset is closed by the end of each page. I also checked the
permissions on the IWAM's temp directory (as per an MS KB article). I even
went to make sure that the ASPNET account has rights on its temp folder. I
did notice that the IWAM's temp folder contains a bunch of temp files, all
locked (as in, I can't delete them). The only way to fix this problem that I
have seen is to restart the IIS server every time it fails, but in a
production environment, that's not good.
I was also thinking about converting my code to ADO.NET, but I have no idea
where to begin. All my code is contained in the ASPX file, so there's no
"behind the scenes" coding, or runat="server" attributes. I would like to
keep it that way too, as the server is a rather old one (P2 467 MHz, 327 MB
of RAM...). I did do a Microsoft Certified Course (Intro to VB.NET), but I
can't remember how to use the connection. data adaptor, and data reader
objects. There was something about creating the XML schema too, but I can't
remember that either.
Can someone help me? Thanks.
