Calendar value in a User Control

I have a user control called DatePicker...

DatePicker
-> has Calender1
-> has Function GetDate()

GetDate() returns Calendar1.SelectedDate

Now, my page is calling DatePicker1.GetDate() on each page load, but
everytime, GetDate() returns the date of the previous Date Selection,
not the new one.

It's like when the page is submitted, the calendar value is not changed
until the page has finished loading...

anyway around this problem?

I don't like to add a 'GO' button. I just want to filter my sql based
on user making changes on the calendar.
