cancel events in UserControl

I have a UserControl derived class containing a textbox that wires the
'Validating' event. The textbox remains in focus when I cancel the
validation, however another Usercontrol derived class on the same form still
processes the events that are wired when I click on it. Other Windows.Forms
controls such as the TreeView do not process any events when I click on them.

Is there a way get a UserControl class to cancel its clicked event when a
textbox cancels from its 'Validating' event code?? ANy help on this matter
would be greatly appreciated.
