Catalyst Releases Scripting Editions of SocketTools

Catalyst Releases Scripting Editions of SocketTools
Client and server-side development for Active Server Pages and PHP.

Yucca Valley, CA, May 25, 2005 - Catalyst Development Corp
(www.catalyst.com) - with over 10 years experience developing Internet
components announced that Scripting and Secure Scripting Editions have
been added to the SocketTools family of products. The Scripting
Editions were designed specifically for client and server-side host
environments like ASP and PHP.

The SocketTools Scripting Editions consist of Component Object Model
(COM) libraries designed primarily for use in scripting languages such
as VBScript and JScript. While the interface to the Scripting Edition
components is similar to the ActiveX controls in the Visual Edition,
the internal design has significant differences. The Scripting Edition
components do not have the inherent overhead of ActiveX controls and
they implement a threading model that makes them much more efficient to
use with Active Server Pages (ASP) and similar environments.

Features of the SocketTools Scripting and/or Secure Scripting Editions:

o Standard COM based components compatible with any scripting language
o Optimized for server-side scripting in Active Server Pages (ASP) and
PHP
o Full support for client scripting in Internet Explorer using
VBScript and JScript
o Low resource utilization and no external dependencies on third-party
libraries
o A comprehensive product with 18 components for all of the major
protocols
o Fully compatible with Visual Studio.NET, including Visual Basic.NET
and C#
o Includes both high level and lower level interfaces for maximum
flexibility
o Thread-safe implementation with full support for multithreaded
applications
o Support for proxy servers, including secure proxies, using FTP and
HTTP
o Support for the standard SSL and TLS security protocols with 128-bit
encryption
o Enable security features with just a few lines of code
o Support for both implicit and explicit SSL and TLS connections
o Support for client certificates when required by the remote host
o Support for using certificate files as well as using the Windows
certificate store
o No dependencies on third party SSL libraries
o An extensive Developer's Guide and online Technical Reference
o A professional technical support staff and extensive online support
resources
o No runtime licensing fees or additional royalties

The Scripting Edition is ideal for the developer who requires the
flexibility, ease of use and rapid development features of a component
designed specifically for client and server-side scripting. It includes
everything professional software developers need to create complex
scripts and applications, enabling developers to focus on their core
application technology rather than the details of how a particular
protocol is implemented or understanding the specifics of Windows
Sockets programming.

Catalyst provides free email support for 60 days from purchase along
with an unusually informative website (www.catalyst.com). For-fee
support is available also. A single developer license is $395/Standard,
$695/Secure.
