installing VB.NET Standard 2003 ruined my XP Home System

On Tuesday, May 10, I installed VB.NET Standard 2003 on my WinXP Home Edition
system with processor speed 1.1 GHz, 256 MB RAM, and 40 GB hard drive. My
system has ground to a halt.

In My Computer, Properties, Advanced, User Profiles, I noticed a new user
profile: "Unknown Account." I deleted the profile. I went into Control
Panel, User Accounts, and noticed a new account "ASP.NET Machine A..." In
Event Viewer's Security log, I noticed attempts by two different user names
and domains to log into my system as "Administrator, Administrador,
Administrateur, and Administrato:r (with an umlat)" at the same time that I
was installing VB.NET.

I uninstalled VB.NET but that has not solved the problem. My left mouse
button doesn't work, clicking doesn't always work, it takes a long time for
any command to go through, and it takes so long to access a web page once I'm
connected that it's futile. I took the computer to a computer repair class.
With a new monitor, it had trouble recognizing the first time I powered it
up, but no problems the 2nd time. It didn't recognize the first mouse but
did the second one. It didn't recognize the first keyboard but did the
second one. Then the system worked fine. Once I brought it home, it didn't
work.

The XP came preinstalled on my machine so I don't have a disk to reload
anything on and my one-year warranty from the computer manufacturer,
emachines, expired almost two years ago.

Someone said VB.NET is looking for LAN card and changed the BIOS but I went
into the BIOS and disabled the Network card. Still, no change.

Does anyone know what's going on and how to fix?
