Good book about VB.NET ?

Hi .

I have experience in VB6 . Recently , I started learning (independently)
VB.NET , under the Beta 1 version of VS2005 .

However , there are not many books about VB2005 : VB2005 isn't completed
yet .
Would I buy a book about VB.NET 2003 ? and if yes , which book/s is/are
recommended ,
and what are the advantages/disadvantages of each of the books ?

Thanks in advance ,
Lior .

Lior,

Start with this website until there is a good book about 2005, because it is
still in its first beta release and the second will soon be released, would
I not buy a 2005 book for learning

I hope this helps a little bit?

Hi Mr. Cor ,

I am talking about a real book (not ebook or online book) , which I can buy
in a store
(so I can also read it when I am not using the computer , eg. in bed) .

Because there are almost no books about VS2005 (which is in Beta release
right now) ,
I asked : "Would I buy a book about VB.NET 2003 (instead) ? "

Hope to hear some recommendations about good VB.NET 2003 books (touchable
books) ,
along with their advantages/disadvantages please .

Thanks in advance ,
Lior .

Lior,

There is my advise based on, especially in the beginners part there are a
lot of changes between VBNet 2003 and VBNet 2005.

Maybe it is better to buy first a book about the principles of dotNet,
because that is not changed. When you have read that than it is much easier
to make a program. I found this a very nice (short in text) book (it is
based on the first betas, however that gives only in some places some
misunderstanding and is in your case probably not important) .

In this book is as well written about the program languages.

I hope this helps,

Here is a book that covers the basics, based on VS2005 (Beta 1, I presume).

http://catalogs.mhhe.com/mhhe/viewPr...sbn=0073215880

The authors, and their series of books on Visual Basic .NET have an
excellent reputation in college/university circles.
That said, I would not buy this book. I agree with Cor, that you should make
do with online resources until Beta 2 is released. You'll then see a flood
of books released on VB 2005, v2 of the .NET Framework, etc.

No, you're looking at the copyright date. Copyright dates are automobile
model years. For example, my wife wants to trade her "old" Lexus (2002) in
on the new 2006 Lexus GS 430, which she can drive home today from our local
dealer. The book is available now. Contact McGraw Hill Higher Education.
