Secure data export: Recommendations please

Hi everyone, I am just after some ideas about the best way (Read secure) to
make some data available to an external source.

Currently, we have an MSSQL database which another external company wants to
retrieve some information from.

Our internal platform is all Microsoft 2003 with SQL Server 2000 and all
applications are written in .NET
The external application is PHP/ MySQL based.

Now, the data contains information about people so we want to keep things as
secure as possible.

Thanks in advance for any ideas
Regards
Mark
