Announcing New dtSearch® Product Line Version

Release Adds Broader Spider Capabilities to dtSearch Desktop, Network
& Web;
Search Form Enhancements to dtSearch Web & Publish;
.NET and Java API Additions for Developers; and a New Search Option
for All Products

BETHESDA, MD (September 1, 2004) dtSearch Corp., a leading supplier of
enterprise, end-user and developer text retrieval software, announces
Version 6.4 of its dtSearch product line. dtSearch products instantly
search gigabytes (and more) of text across a desktop, network,
Internet or Intranet. dtSearch products also serve as tools to aid in
publishing large document collections to Web sites or to CD/DVD, with
instant text searching. Products include:

· dtSearch Desktop with Spider, for instantly searching all popular
file types on a PC
· dtSearch Network with Spider, for instantly searching across a
network
· dtSearch Web with Spider, for quickly publishing a large volume of
instantly searchable content to a Web site
· dtSearch Publish, for quickly publishing an instantly searchable
document collection to CD or DVD, or mirroring an existing Web site on
CD or DVD
· dtSearch Text Retrieval Engine, for Win & .NET and for Linux, for
developers to add dtSearch's built-in file format support and
searching to Web-based and other applications

All dtSearch products share the same core search and display
functionality, including:
· over two dozen indexed, unindexed, full-text and fielded data search
options
· display of HTML, XML and PDF files with highlighted hits and with
embedded images, links and formatting intact
· proprietary HTML converters for display of word processor, database,
spreadsheet, email, ZIP, Unicode, etc. files, with highlighted hits

The built-in dtSearch Spider allows Web developers and desktop/network
users to add Web site content to a locally searchable database. The
Spider can search Web site content to any specified level of page
depth, and supports ordinary public sites, secure content (HTTPS)
sites, password-accessible sites, and dynamic-content ASP and ASP.NET
sites. The Spider includes integrated relevancy ranking with local
searches, including WYSIWYG display with highlighted hits of HTML, PDF
and XML Web-based files.

In addition to "vertical" searching of pages linked from a URL, the
Spider can now "horizontally" crawl all sites linked to a URL. (In
keeping with the broader reach of the dtSearch Spider, the new version
also adds options to limit indexed data by file size, file number,
time on a Web site, etc.) The Spider also now supports forms-based
authentication.

Along with the Spider enhancements, dtSearch Web adds new options to
the set-up wizard's search form generation, such as easy date range
control, automatic generation of field searching controls, and
stylesheet-based search form and search results formatting. dtSearch
Publish uses a version of dtSearch Web on its CD/DVDs, along with a
mini HTTP server. The result is instantly searchable CD/DVDs that run
with zero footprint. Because dtSearch Publish also uses dtSearch Web,
the search form enhancements also apply to CD/DVD generation.

The dtSearch Text Retrieval Engine, available in both Win & .NET and
Linux versions, currently supports SQL, Delphi, Java, C++, C++.NET,
C#, VB.NET and ASP.NET. The new version adds a new native .NET sample
application for indexing and searching any database accessible via
ADO.NET. The new version also includes Java API enhancements.

In addition, the entire dtSearch product line now adds a positional
scoring option to dtSearch's built-in relevancy ranking by hit term
frequency, density and rarity. The new positional scoring ranks
documents more highly when hits are near the top of a file, or
otherwise clustered in a file. The scoring option works in connection
with all existing indexed, unindexed, fielded and full-text search
features, including: fuzziness adjustable from 0 to 10 (to sift
through typographical and spelling errors), synonym/concept/thesaurus,
boolean (and/or/not), natural language, phrase, phonic, wildcard,
proximity, stemming, numeric range, and user-defined variable term
weighting.

Pricing is $199 for dtSearch Desktop with Spider, from $800 for
dtSearch Network with Spider, from $999 for dtSearch Web with Spider,
and from $2,500 for dtSearch Publish. dtSearch offers a variety of
royalty-based and royalty-free pricing options for the dtSearch Text
Retrieval Engine for Win & .NET and Linux.
