VS .NET 2002 Remove and Reinstall

My copy of Visual Studio .NET 2002 became corrupted. Repair didn't work so I
tried remove and reinstall via the Start menu. Removal seemed to proceed
normally but when I tried to reinstall I got:

"A failed installation has been detected. Press OK to uninstall the product.
Then retry installing."

So I tried removal via the Control Panel's Add/Remove programs. I got the
same message when I tried to reinstall.

So I tried regclean to eliminate all references to "Visual" (except for
those still needed for VS6) or ".NET". I still got the same message when I
tried to reinstall.

I then tried all of the the removal procedures at

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;315779

and

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;320114

but I still get the following errors on attempted installation:

"A failed installation has been detected. Press OK to uninstall the product.
Then retry installing."

followed by:

"Setup is complete."

"There were warnings generated during setup."

"View error log"

"[12/02/04,10:29:32] setup.exe: [2] Value (directory) from
g_szRegvalSuiteLocation doesn't exist in CSetupManager::RemoveSetupFiles()"

"[12/02/04,10:29:32] setup.exe: [2] CSetupManager::RemoveSetupFiles() failed
in CSetupManager::RunInstall()"

and the installation will not continue. Is there any way around this?

Stupid I know, but you rebooted the system right?

This KB article seems applicable:
PRB: Error Message: A Failed Installation Has Been Detected
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;827076

Also, Is this error 25003? That's a fairly generic error. Perhaps this KB
will help
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;827076

Also, I don't know if this will help, but I found a helpful list of KB
articles dealing with installation of VS (all versions).

I hope this helps,

Thanks Nick,

But I think you may have listed the wrong link for PRB: Error Message: A
Failed Installation Has Been Detected.

It's the same link as for error 25003.
