How to read CD Subchannel & CD-Text data

I want to read the additional data from audio cd's that is provided on
subchannels or as CD-Text on the disc (like ISRC code, Artist name etc.).
So far i could only find external .dll's or code that works primarily with
mp3/wma files. I have the feeling there should be an easier way to access
this information (preferrably from within VB.NET -including VS 2005)
What am i not finding?!
