Removing Namespace from XMLDocument

Is it possible to strip the namespace out of an XMLDocument? I'm
trying to perform an update query by sending an xml string to SQL
Server and using OPENXML. It seems to have a problem with getting
data fromt he xml unless I specify the xmlns, which I don't want to
do.

So my other alternative is remove the namespace before sending the
document into SQL Server. I know there has to be a way, but I can't
figure it out.

Any help would be greatly appreicated.
