page load question

Hello I put a "wait" gif animation on the page and a huge database query
behind.

What I want do is to show user the wait gif before the query is ready and
then remove the wait gif , and show the query results.

The problem is that the gif is only shown after the query is finished. Can
anyone give me a solution?
