Anyone know of a good HTML Rendering control? I need a control that will
render and display HTML in a Windows form. It doesn't need to pull down
HTML pages from the Web - I'll feed it all the HTML it needs to display.
I've already spent way too much time trying to get the Microsoft WebBrowser
control to work, and I have too many other things to work on to waste any
more time on it. If you know of any third-party HTML Renderers out there,
please let me know.
Thanks,

Hmm. The WebBrowser control is still the most compatible thing around, if
you are after a proper rendering control for HTML. Granted, it is not the
easiest thing to use in .NET, but the information is all out there in these
newsgroups and the MSDN. I have tried most of the offerings of third-party
controls, and I still ended up with the WebBrowser control.
If there is a particular issue that is causing a problem then post here and
I'm sure someone will offer some help. There are also these newsgroups

Charles,
I've been looking for resources on the webbrowser control for some time,
it turns out I was just looking in the wrong place. If you know of any more
resources please post them. Thanks!

Turns out the WebBrowser control doesn't fire the WindowClosing event
properly and doesn't properly unload itself completely from memory... both
of which were the sources of my problem. Someone pointed out a workaround,
so I'm back to using the WebBrowser control again.
Thanks,

Hi Michael
You are certainly right about it not cleaning up properly, and it also has
problems with firing events.
When I close a form that is hosting the WebBrowser control, I explicitly
call Dispose on the WebBrowser object, and this gets over the clean-up
problem.

Yeah, I tried Disposing the heck out of it; even forced a garbage
collection... but nothing worked until someone pointed out the work-around
to me. I had to basically create a new COM interface and explicitly capture
the WindowClosing event to avoid the error message. I think this variation
of the problem was due mostly to the fact that my managed code is running
several worker threads from the thread pool, especially since I didn't have
half the problems in a single threaded app.
Thanks,
