Visual Studio's quickstart trouble..

I have Windows XP Pro with the newest SP and all updates.
I have Visual Studio .NET 2002
When I installed VS.NET I didn't add iis nor the SQL server but then I
decided to reverse that decision while looking at the help files. I
have tried doing as the ConfigDetails.htm says

Run the following command:
aspnet_regiis.exe -i

Run the following command:
iisreset.exe

but it doesn't help. I thought I had read something to the effect
during initial installation about having to uninstall my .NET service
pack and reinstall it after later deciding to install iis... I don't
want to do so without knowing for sure though. Plus it appears I have
2 different .NET's frameworks...

Also, under 'Creating the IIS Virtual Directories' I tried the
WebIPSetting.exe tool and it seemed to work. At least I didn't get any
erro's. But when I try to goto http://localhost/quickstart or where
that tool WebIPSetting.exe indicated http://localhost/w3svc/1/root/ I
still get 'There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach
and it cannot be displayed.' then when I click on localhost in the
sentence 'Open the localhost home page, and then look for links to the
information you want.' I get the same message 'There is a problem with
the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed.' It also
says something about 'HTTP 500 - Internal server error'

Please, any help will be highly appreciated. TIA
