When does the .NET Framework Redistributable Package require reboot?

Does somebody know exactly in which scenarios installing the .NET
Framework from the redistributable package requires a machine reboot?
Does it have something to do with whether the target machine has version
2.0 of the Windows Installer installed or are there other factors involved?

Thanks in advance,
