embedded object/animation

Hi,

I have also posted this a few days ago to dotnet.languagues.vb--I do
apologize for the cross-posting.

I have written software that creates charts. These charts can be saved
as images and imported into various applications (e.g. Excel). What I
would like to create now is a way to animate these charts. By that, I
mean I would like to be able to embed in an application (or a web page)
some sort of object that would display multiple charts in
succession--sort of like a short video clip, but likely nowhere near
the number of frames/second. Probably would display 5-20 or so charts
at maybe one per second or let the user click through them manually.

My question is about the object--what would be a good approach for this?
Is this something for ActiveX? I would really like for a user working
with, say, Excel, to feel that they were not using a separate
application to view the graphs, but rather they were just working with
something like a picture with a play and stop button.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts you might have, or any direction
(better newsgroups, topics to read about) you might lend.
