Best practise: dataset and many to many relations

What is the approach to save data for tables with a many to many
relation usign an intermediate table?
I know I can explictily write relationships using ado.net but I have
no clues how to INSERT/UPDATE the intermediate table.
May you help?
Thanks,

Daniele
