Open Source Mudslingers

I detect a new trend in Open Source: Mudslinging

How to do it?

Example, IBM declares its Web Sphere product 'open source'

Are they being generous?

No, Web Sphere is a crappy product that IBM has being shoveling on its
customers for years.

So they 'generously' open source it -- why? To dilute the effect of a BEA
or Sun who want to sell real java app servers.

But are they open sourcing their bread and butter products, such as DB2 ?

Nooooo.....

Example 2,

Claim to be 'buying up' a Linux company such as Suse -- SUN is doing that
right now. It gives them the headlines of being part of 'Linux' -- but
insiders know they are merely trying to sabotage Linux to promote Solaris
-- it's SCO part II.

Why would SUN want to buy Novell when it has JDS ? No reason..other than to
FUD out their competitor...
Example 3.

Microsoft. What are they doing right now? Nothing. Why? They don't have
to. Look at IBM, Sun, HP and all the others racing to soil each others
swimming holes.
End Result: Linux is a game where it's not worth playing to win. The only
winner will be Microsoft. The Big Byte companies of Microsoft, CA, Sun,
HP, IBM and so on are just treading water and paying lip service to Linux.

Happily, the joke is on them...
