Embedded .Net Object in WebPage -- needs non .Net resources

I have a .Net object in a web page that is served from a trusted site.
It in turn references another .Net component. This component is
successfully download.

However, that component needs a non .Net DLL. I can explicitly download
it myself from the website, and put it somewhere on the local system,
but the problem is that the DLL is not in the local path and therefore
can't be found. I've tried explicitly setting the path through a
kernel32.dll call, but it doesn't seem to take effect.

What can I do in this situation?
