Roger,
Window Services or Web Services.

For Windows Services have you tried:

System.ServiceProcess.ServiceController.GetService s?

The GetServices is overloaded to retrieve both services local to the
machine, and services on a remote machine.

Dim services() As ServiceController
services = ServiceController.GetServices("MyServer")

Hope this helps
Jay
