Yep, sure did. It was a nightmare. Are you implementing the whole spec? If
so, check out www.neotool.com it'll make life a lot better for you.

Not implementing the whole spec. I have some old programs that I control in-house and moving things to SQL Server 2000 over time. I have some third-party systems that I can connect to via HL7 and send data to and one that I can receive from into an old progam. I need an interface between a third-pary product that sends me data and an application that is not HL7-compliant. So, whether things get written directly via TPC and port# or in and out of text files I would like a ton of flexibility. I thought VB.NET with some third-party TCP tools would allow me some flexibility in moving data between multiple disparate systems
