Impression of .NET

Is my impression correct that everything is now moving towards this .NET
programming?
Or do I read too much .NET related news groups?

You might possibly ne reading to many posts in the .NET related newsgroups,
but I do think that there's a strong move towards programming with the .NET
Framework. MS themselves are betting the house on the .NET framework with
Longhorn to be .NET centric, server applications such as BizTalk 2004,
Content Management Server 2002, Commerce Server and SharePoint Portal Server
already being partly or fully based on the .NET Framework for integration
and programming purposes.

Yes, MS Office 2003 have the Visual Studio Tools for MS Office.

I am not soo sure.

I was able to find only one application asking me
to install the .NET framework. A free game.
Nothing commercial yet.

Also, I work for a localization company.
None of our clients came with .NET resources (yet?)
I did hear rummors that one of them will move to C# "soon."

Sure, there are in-house tools, proprietary stuff, etc.
But somehow I doubt it is much.

Maybe after Longhorn ?
(which seems to have a lot of stuff based on .NET)

Obviously, I did not do any scientific research into this :)
