Web install project

I have finished my web app and am ready to install it on the production server. I cannot just copy the files because the project uses Crystal Reports, which need registering. So I added a web setup project to my solution. The wizard asked for the virtual directory, which I provided. A web setup project was created and I did a build. Now when I copy those files to the server and run setup, the virtual directory is set up but no web pages from my project. What did I do wrong? Is there a step by step method of installing a web project on a production server? Thanks
