ImageList related designers

After experiment with and reading about the ImageList and
related designers, I'm under the impression that:

- Design time support for 32bpp icons and pngs is broken in
that they aren't properly added to the resx file, thus you can't
utilize ImageList, ToolBar, ListView, etc designers if you want
to use such images.
- The ImageCollectionEditor doesn't allow you to select/add
multiple files at a time.
- ImageList is sealed, and designers such as ImageListDesigner
and ImageCollectionEditor are internal, so trying to enhance/
fix things is essentially out of the question.

I would very much like "proper" design time support for 32bpp
images, and if I'm wrong or otherwise missing some way to achieve
that, I'd greatly appreciate some pointers. If these limitations are
indeed real, I'd be curious to know if they have been addressed
in Whidbey.
