Stall while doing a select???

I have encountered a problem while using Visual Studio .NET and i'm sure
others have run into the same problem.
Every other time that i am doing a a select on some code in the IDE my
cursor stalls (for a couple of seconds) as if waiting for the processor to
do something then it continues on it's way completing the select. This has
come to be quite annoying and interuptive.

Are there any settings that i can configure to make this stop?
