.NET Alerts - more info?

Hi

I have just discovered .NET alerts - they would be very useful for an application I am currently building using ASP.NET. However, the information I can find on the MS website is a bit sparse, and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a good tutorial or just some more information. I still have several fundamental questions, including:
1) Do you have to use Passport logins for the service, or can I just provide details of users if I use Forms Authentication?
2) How much does this cost?!?

Any help is much appreciated.

Regards,
Haydn

Have you acquired the SDK?

SEE: http://www.microsoft.com/net/service.../developer.asp

There are in fact usage fees. Something like a certain amount
of cents per alert but the exact fee should be discussed with
Microsoft.
