I'm familiar with the beep function but is there any function that enables
you to cause a beep with a specific pitch and duration in the computer's
speaker?

On NT platforms, you can call the Win32 Beep function (use P/Invoke). This
takes 2 DWORDs, the frequency (Hz), and the duration (miliseconds).
